Vita First Edition Bundle confirmed

The portable that costs more than a home console

Early adopters in North America:  mark February 15th, 2012 on your calendars as the day Sony will be releasing the first PlayStation Vita bundle in North America. Select retailers in North America will start accepting pre-orders for the First Edition bundle starting today. The big draw here is that the February 15th release date gives buyers the opportunity to purchase and have the system operational a week before it goes on sale to the general public.

The First Edition bundle will include the 3G+Wi-Fi version of the PlayStation Vita, as well as a 4GB memory card, a system case and a copy of Little Deviants. This will set you back $350 USD; and Sony is also going to offer a non-3G Wi-Fi only version in Canada for $300 CDN.

Despite being able to get the system early we just don’t think that the cost is going to work, as the unit costs as much as a PlayStation 3. Sony Fan Boys are expected to embrace the system, but it remains to be seen if Sony can make a dent into Nintendo’s lead in the portable space.
