Like last year, the Spike TV Video Game Awards, or VGAs for short, did reveal some new and upcoming titles. Most of these revelations were done though trailers sprinkled throughout the awards show. It would seem that more clever companies have realized that since the press is already there to cover this event it would make a great way to reveal new products after the show.

Sony apparently will be one taking advantage of this and will be launching what is being called an “Exclusive PlayStation 3 Reveal” at an event to be held nearby and right after the Spike VGAs. The invite that has been sent out is quite cryptic and does not offer any clues, but some that we have spoken with seem to think it will be an Uncharted 3 announcement, as we already know that the title is in development.

Sony will not be the only one making an announcement; apparently, BioWare will be revealing something new, but we think that this will be during the VGAs and not at a separate announcement party like Sony is throwing. Odds on the favorite for the announcement seem to be Mass Effect 3, as some of the clues have pointed to such an announcement.

Sources tell us not to expect Sony and BioWare to be the only ones trying to take advantage of the press that they can get from the VGAs. It is likely that others will be following the lead and making announcements of their own, as well. Still, we don’t think the number announcements will be that many; and most of the announcements will be made in the form of new trailers for titles to be shown during the awards show.
