In an effort to deal with pirates and BitTorrent downloaders, Bungie announced that they would be resetting all in-game credits and wiping out achievements. The initial report suggested that this would happen Monday right before the official release, but apparently the reset has already taken place; and those who have acquired legitimate copies of the title or are expecting delivery of the title today prior to the midnight launch have nothing to fear.

The latest news from Bungie confirms that the actual reset took place on Thursday, September 9th and they have no plans to perform another reset prior to release. So, those that have legitimate copies of the title prior to the midnight launch have no worries about losing their achievements due to a reset.
