It seems that the rumors of a Jimi Hendrix Guitar Hero title in the works are without foundation. Despite some comments made by Hendrix stepsister, Janie Hendrix, to the L.A. Times about such a project in the works, it just does not seem likely, given Activision’s plans for cutting back on the releases to the franchise.

When Activision made the announcement that they were cutting back on the number of releases in the Guitar Hero franchise, it seemed as if a new set of rumors started, indicating that there was a Hendrix Rock Band title that was actually in the works. As far as our sources have been able to sniff out, Harmonix has no plans for a Hendrix-only title at this time, but additional Hendrix music is likely going to show up for download into Rock Band.

While many believe that a stand-alone Hendrix title would do well, it does seem that people are on rhythm music game overload at the moment and now is not the time to undertake and produce such a project. While it sounds like a good idea, right now we have to believe that some time needs to pass after the next series of releases before either publisher should think about such a project.
