No intentions to shut down Halo 3 online play

With all of the costs involved in running servers these days, along with word that servers for inactive games are being taken down by the publishers, some have been wondering about the fate of Halo 3 and Halo 3 ODST multiplayer once Halo Reach is released.

While this does seem to be a very valid question, our sources claim that Bungie has commented to the community that they don’t think the plug will be pulled on the Halo 3 multiplayer. The facts are that the game is still exceptionally popular and is likely to remain so even after the release of Halo Reach. Hardcore Halo fans are likely to continue to play the game.

While we suspect that it is unlikely Bungie will be putting in very little time or resources into the improvement of Halo 3, we have to agree that it is still so popular that it will likely be able to co-exist and survive. We think that the Halo legacy will continue to live on in Halo 3, but we have to think that a large number of people will migrate to Halo Reach.
