BT has decided to take on the iPad with its own touchscreen-enabled tablet style device.

The tablet has not got a name, but details are starting to leak out onto the world wide wibble. This tablet is widely believed to offer a screen size that is smaller than the iPad, but is capable of making as well as receiving phone calls over a Bluetooth headset.

It can handle email, web browsing and support text messaging without a problem. It is halfway between a computer and a telephone, but it is not clear how portable it is.

There will also be streaming game services, which means you won't need to touch any disks. It seems that BT is thinking of application stores as a good way of making a lot of cash.
