First the goggles, now 7 extra days of Live

While the $15 price tag for the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 map package (which is known as the Stimulus Pack) never sat right with many players, the botched launch didn’t help matters, either. Microsoft, Activision and Infinity Ward, however, to their credit, have been trying to make things right.

First, as a “thank you” for bearing with them while they got things for the purchase, download and launch of the Stimulus Package sorted out, they gave a free download of the COD avatar night vision goggles this past weekend and refunded the purchase price back in Microsoft Points to those that had already purchased them.

Now Microsoft is going to give those that already purchased the Stimulus Package an extra seven days of Xbox Live Gold to be added to their current Xbox Live account. While Microsoft claims that the bonus seven days are about loyalty and saying thank you to their customers, we have to think it is more about trying to smooth things more over than anything else.

From where we sit, we thought that the night vision goggles were plenty, but an additional seven days of Xbox Live Gold is nice; however, if you are like many of us, you already have a one-year membership and will likely not notice the few extra days. Still, it is the thought that counts. Accounts are said to be updated on or before May 1st with the additional seven days being added.
