For future SSDs

OCZ has announced that it has signed an agreement with SandForce for their controllers that will be used in future OCZ SSD products. Apparently, OCZ plans to use these for both mainstream and enterprise solid state drives.

According to the press release, OCZ will use both SandForce SF-1500 and SF-1200 for its future solid state drives that will be based on MLC as well as SLC NAND flash memory. These new controllers should provide high performance as well as reliability, endurance and power efficiency, all at an affordable price.

The SandForce based SSD line will be available in multiple interfaces like SATA 3Gbps as well as SAS 6Gpbs and in capacities ranging from 50GB and all the way to 400GB. According to Ryan Petersen, CEO of the OCZ Technology Group, the new deal will bring enterprise-class MLC based SSDs that will offer superior total cost of ownership thanks to excellent reliability and performance.

The new drives are far from being finished and we guess that it is too early to talk about any numbers, but OCZ plans to make some announcements in the next few weeks and to show some of those new drives at CES 2010.
