Loved and loathed

Hezbollah chief
Hassan Nasrallah has a huge following on Facebook, with more than 20 forums dedicated to his persona.

Bear in mind, not all of these are fan sites, as quite a few Facebookers are calling for his death. After all, we are talking about the Mid East here, and to put it mildly, most people in the region simply don't really get along well.

Nasrallah has not appeared in public for more than a year now, and is hiding in Beirut, but in spite of his low profile, the controversial militant leader is still drawing a huge crowd on Facebook. As you would expect, comments and discussion topics range from praise and blessing to talking about the best methods of assassinating Nasrallah.

Nasrallah seems to have divided the Lebanese community, as some see him as a patriot who defended Lebanon against Israeli aggression in 2006, while others blame him of causing the Israeli incursion to begin with. With thousands of people from all over the world discussing Lebanese and regional politics, some good might eventually come out of the discourse. If not, at least as long as people are chatting they can't pick up a rifle and shoot at each other, so some good is bound to come out of the discussion boards.
