Microsoft’s cloud revenue up seven per cent

First quarter made $52.9 billion

Microsoft’s cloud arm reported first-quarter revenue of $52.9 billion, up seven per cent, and net income of $18.3 billion, up nine per cent.

Top Vole Satya Nadella said the world’s most advanced AI models were coming together with the world’s most universal user interface – natural language – to create a new era of computing, and we guess that Microsoft's cloud empire was cashing in.

“Across the Microsoft Cloud, we are the platform of choice to help customers get the most value out of their digital spend and innovate for this next generation of AI,” he said.

Vole’s chief number cruncher Amy Hood said that Microsoft’s revenue in Productivity and Business Processes was $17.5 billion and increased 11 per cent.

Office Commercial products and cloud services revenue increased 13 per cent driven by Office 365 Commercial revenue growth of 14 per cent.

Office Consumer products and cloud services revenue increased a per cent and Microsoft 365 Consumer subscribers grew to 65.4 million

LinkedIn revenue increased eight per cent. Dynamics products and cloud services revenue increased 17 per cent driven by Dynamics 365 revenue growth of 25 per cent (up 29 per cent in constant currency)

Revenue in Intelligent Cloud was $22.1 billion and increased 16 per cent, with the following business highlights:

Server products and cloud services revenue increased 17 per cent driven by Azure and other cloud services revenue growth of 27 per cent.

Revenue in More Personal Computing was $13.3 billion and decreased nine per cent, with the following business highlights:

Windows OEM revenue decreased 28 per cent. Devices revenue decreased 30 per cent Windows Commercial products and cloud services revenue increased 14 per cent.

Xbox content and services revenue increased three per cent. Search and news advertising revenue excluding traffic acquisition costs increased 10 per cent.
