US Airforce would love to switch off Google Earth

The head of US Air Force intelligence and surveillance said that online mapping software such as Google Earth posed a danger to security.

Lt. Gen. David Deptula, deputy chief of staff for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance said that to talk about the danger was largely pointless as it was there now and there was nothing which could be done about it

He told Reuters that no one was going to undo commercial satellite imagery. The comments are interesting because it finally seems that the US military has given up on trying to block the development of public satellite images.
