Gets 36 years

A teen who beat a 7-year-old girl to death while trying to imitate Mortal Kombat, has been sentenced to 36 years in prison and 5 years probation.

Lamar Roberts, who was 17 at the time of the killing in 2007, was tried as an adult and faced a maximum sentence of 48 years in prison. He pleaded guilty for the murder of Zoe Garcia, 7, and showed remorse, saying he's not a monster and telling the court he is truly sorry for what happened. "I do agree to get what I get," said Roberts.

In July, Garcia's half-sister Heather Trujillo, also 17, pleaded guilty to negligently causing death for her role in Zoe's death. She was sentenced to an 18-year suspended prison sentence, and has to spend six year in a youth offender program.
