US Garmin engineers gunned down for being foreigners

“Get out of my country”

A Kansas man was charged today after the fatal shooting of a German Garmin engineer and wounding of two others at a bar

According to coppers, Adam Purinton was drinking at the bar in Olathe, Kansas, at about 7:15PM he took offence to the group of engineers who were having a swift half after work. Apparently they were not from around here, even though they actually were.

According to the Kansas City Star a witness said he yelled “get out of my country” to two of the victims and then opened fire. Apparently, he thought the two were “Middle Eastern” and he apparently thought that gives you the right to shoot them on sight in US. In fact, they were German nationals with Indian genetics, but in Kansas we guess that was a little too complex for the bloke to process and one non-white is the same as another.

Srinivas Kuchibhotla, an engineer at Garmin, was killed. Another victim injured in the shooting, Alok Madasani, also worked at Garmin. A third man, Ian Grillot, was also injured. Witnesses told the Star that Grillot was attempting to help the two other men after they were confronted. Officials said Madasani and Grillot have been treated and are in stable condition.

Purinton has been charged with one count of premeditated first degree murder, and two counts of attempted premeditated first degree murder. He is awaiting extradition to Kansas from Missouri, according to officials.

Police found Purinton 80 miles away, five hours later, at a Clinton, Missouri Applebee’s. He allegedly bragged about the shooting to a bartender.

Garmin said that it was saddened that two Garmin associates were involved in last night’s incident, and we express our condolences to the family and friends of our co-workers involved. It is offering grief counselors on-site and available for its associates today and tomorrow.”

It is also hugely ironic as Garmin was bringing jobs to the area. In 2015, Garmin won approval from the Olathe City Council to expand its headquarters in hopes of doubling its 2,700-employee headcount.

But apparently, some people don’t like the fact Garmin is not just hiring white workers and more Indians are living in the town.
