With WiFi to boot

We're not sure who actually buys digital picture frames, but they're all the rage and prices have been plummeting, yet there seems to be an endelss stream of products from just about every company out there who's trying to find a new revenue stream.

Kodak has taken things to the next level with its new 7.6-inch OLED digital picture frame with built in WiFi. The display itself is super thin, but the base seem to take up a fair bit of space, and we can't say we're super keen on the design itself, but it does have some nice touches.

The display itself is a 16:9 unit with a native resolution of 800x480 pixels, and it has a 30,000:1 contrast ratio which blows even the most overinflated LCDs out of the water. The ambient light sensor makes sure it's never too bright or too dark by detecting the light in the room and adjusting the screen brightness accordingly. It also has a 180 degree viewing angle, which should be good for those moments when the whole family crowds in to have a look at the latest baby pictures or whatever people stick on these things.

There's 2GB of built in memory for storing your snaps on and you can offload directly from your camera, memory cards or via a USB storage device. Thanks to integrated WiFi you can also access pictures from your online picture sharing service and Websites, as well as it gives you the option to stream pictures, videos and music from your computer. Kodak also fitted a pair of stereo speakers for those that want to do more than just watch pictures on their digital picture frame.

The downside? Well, first of all you'll have to wait until November to get your hands on one, but that's only if you have US$999 (€703/£558) knocking about that you don't have anything better to spend it on. Ouch.
