Microsoft releases Windows 10 Build 10162

by on03 July 2015

Three builds in the same week

We are sure that our internet provider is not going to be happy with us this week. Microsoft just released a new release Build 10162, its third update this week.

In other words we have downloaded more than 11 GB of Windows 10 preview releases in the last week alone, but since we have rather fast 150Mbit connection, it doesn’t take more than a few minutes. The install takes some 20 minutes with all the restarts and copying. The Windows download is still insignificant, as 3.5GB is nothing compared to PC games that tend to get to 60GB a game.

It is not heard to see that this is the last bit of polishing and that Microsoft is pushing the last bits of updates and fixes to us, loyal beta testers.

The Build 10162 according to Gabe Aul, the voice of Microsoft blogs promises better reliability, performance, battery life, and compatibility. These guys have been testing all the preview releases internally before pushing them to 3 million beta testers around the world, and they usually do know what they are talking about.

The last build 10159 brings a new logon interface and new wallpapers and it did push new Intel IGP drivers our way too.

The slow ring Windows beta testers might get the 10162 update as soon as early next week, as long as Microsoft doesn’t find something utterly wrong with the build. This is Microsoft's way of making your computer geeks all over the US enjoy the 4th of July holiday, and after that Canada Day weekend too.

Europeans are getting a heat wave from the weather that has been unusually warm in the UK, Germany, Austria and many other countries. The more serious heat wave, generated by the hot political climate in Greece and the EU makes things interesting too, but hey, you have a near final 10162 version of Windows 10 and if you are a part of the Windows insider program, Microsoft promises that you will be one of the first to get the Windows 10 final release on the July 29th 2015.
