Tyr X500 and Tyr X2000

Lian Li has updated its Tyr case lineup with yet another case, the Tyr X500. The Tyr X2000, which was announced a few days ago, is a full tower case boasting some rather large dimensions and a look that resembles multimedia speakers. The newly announced Tyr X500 is more suited for smaller environments, making it a perfect candidate for an elegant living room PC.

The full tower Tyr X2000 is 68 cm high, which makes it a very tall case. It is designed with a speaker-like elegant look, so it should easily blend into any modern environment. Good looks aren't the only thing that the Tyr X2000 has to offer, as it comes with room for almost anything that you may desire. It can take E-ATX, ATX and, of course, Micro-ATX motherboards, and it comes with a special SATA rack that can take up to six hot-swappable SATA hard drives.

The Tyr X2000 behemoth comes with a mount for four 140mm fans, has room for a dual power supply, and comes with separate cooling zones, rubber pads and soundproof side panels, which should bring the noise to a minimum level.

The newly announced baby brother of the Tyr X2000, the Tyr X500, is more of a regular case, rather than a behemoth. Measuring 230 x 380 x 585 mm (WxDxH), the new Tyr X500 is suited for smaller environments.

Same as the Tyr X2000, the Tyr X500 has separate cooling zones and supports ATX and Micro-ATX motherboards. It can support up to seven PCI slots, has holes for water-cooling and comes with some sound insulation material which should keep the noise down. The cooling is taken care of by one 120mm exhaust fan for the motherboard heat zone, one 120mm exhaust for the HDD and PSU bay heat zone and two 120mm intake fans.

The HDD cage can take up to four HDDs in a 2x2 configuration and comes with special mounting brackets which should prevent HDD vibration and lower noise.

The big Tyr X2000 HTPC/Gaming case should be available sometime in August and the suggested price stands at US$520. According to our info, this case will not be sold in the U.S. under the Lian Li brand name. The smaller Tyr X500 should be available in stores by the end of the July, at a suggest price of US$390.

Here are the pictures of these two new Lian Li cases.
