As of February

Microsoft's promotional Windows 8 upgrade has been around since October and will come to an end on January 31st. As of February 1st, the Windows 8 Pro upgrade will be available for US $199.99.

Surprisingly, the difference between the promotional US $39.99 and the actual price that will go live on February 1st is quite hefty and will most likely push more users to upgrade before the change. A standard Widnows 8 upgrade will go for US $119.99.

According to The Verge, Microsoft will also offer a Windows 8 Pro pack priced at US $99.99 that will be used to upgrade the standard one to Pro version. The "Media Center Pack" will also be available for US $9.99 starting in February. Of course, Media Center Pack is available for Windows 8 Pro users at no extra cost.
