Mentions 10 nm plans

The Samsung Foundry Forum has been told that the outfit is expanding its  fourth generation 14-nanometer process foundry process.

The company said that the new process will deliver higher performance than the third-gen 14LPC without affecting the power requirements. The fourth-gen 14 nm process technology is suited for high-performance and compute-intensive applications.

Samsung also showed the assembled throngs its third-generation 10 nm chip-making process. The process will provide area reduction compared to its previous generations and Samsung sang that it will be "the most cost-effective cutting-edge process technology in the industry".

The company will be issuing design kits to Samsung customers in Q2, 2017, and first products are expected to be seen by the end of 2017.
