Huawei teases upcoming P40 series smartphones with big camera bump

by on12 March 2020

Online event confirmed, possible European pricing rumored

Huawei is gearing up for the announcement of its next flagship smartphone series, the P40, which will be held as an online event, and not in Paris, France, as expected earlier. The latest teaser pretty much confirms the big camera bump on the back, and the latest rumor shows European prices as well.

As confirmed by Huawei, the P40 series smartphones will announced at an online event, and not at a dedicated event in Paris, France. Earlier rumors suggest we will see a total of three smartphones in the P40 series, the P40, the P40 Pro, and the possible P40 Premium Edition.

The teaser, released earlier by the company, shows a rather big bump on the rear, and with #VisionaryPhotography as a tag, it suggests that we'll see some impressive camera system, possibly with five sensors, as rumored earlier.

The entire series will be powered by Huawei's own Kirin 990 chipset, and some versions will have a 5G version of the chipset, depending on the market.

The latest unconfirmed rumor coming from Grece, and citing unnamed sources, revealed some details about European pricing of the P40 series, suggest it could launch at $849 for the standard P40 with 128GB storage, and $1,139 for the P40 Pro with 256GB storage. Other rumors, coming from China, suggest the standard P40 128GB could launch with a €999 price tag, which sounds a bit steep.

The event will take place on March 26th, and we are sure there will be more details as we draw closer to the announcement date.
