The story appears to have come about because Apple believes that Microsoft should stop making the Surface after Apple copied it. Jobs Mob was also angry that Microsoft's new Surface Pro is better than anything Jobs' Mob could dream up and so unleashed its tame press hacks to seed some discontent among Microsoft;s partners.  After all if the Surface Pro is a success, it means that all Windows PCs will suffer and Redmond's partners will be "up-in-arms."  Yeah, we don't see the logic either. 

Microsoft's PC partners are scratching their heads about the stories. Acer's president of corporate business planning and operations Tiffany Huang said his company welcomes the release of the Surface Book and believes new devices and new technology will help stimulate consumer demand and is a good thing for the market.

Acer launched the Aspire Z all-in-one PC and Aspire R14 notebook in Taiwan on October 12. The Aspire Z features a solid state drive (SSD), multi-touch ability, a stylus and a battery, supporting five hours of operation per charge. The Aspire R14 adopts a nanometre printing processed chassis and features USB Type-C port and rotatable hinges that allows the notebook to be transformed into a tablet.

Huang said that 80 per cent of Acer's channel inventory is Windows 8-based devices, but the proportion for models with Windows 10 will surpass that of Windows 8-based one in the first quarter of 2016.

Acer is currently the number one vendor in terms of Windows 10-based PC sales in Asia and Europe.
