After ages of neither Nintendo or Nvidia denying it, the
rumour that the 3DS would have Tegra under the bonnet appears to have been
squashed by another... er rumour.
Eurogamer is reporting that they've got two unconnected sources
saying that there's no Tegra chip in the 3DS. Apparently Nintendo has an unspecified chip from a
Japanese partner which will be powering the 3DS. The Nvidia rumour has been around so long that many of us
took it as gospel.
Eurogamer even suggested that the Nintendo 3DS will
approach the Sony PS3 and Xbox 360 in terms of processing power. We are expecting to hear a lot more about the 3DS at the
E3 conference. At the moment we don't even know officially that it will
even be called the Nintendo 3DS. At the
moment it is codenamed "Nintendo CTR".
