Analysts give advice
While last quarter's figures were pretty good, analysts
are not that happy with what AMD is doing and suggest it should branch out and
do something a bit different.
Analysts Rob Enderle, an analyst with the Enderle Group
and Jim McGregor, an analyst with In-Statsaid that the results remove a
significant cloud from AMD's future, making vendors more willing to depend on
them for products and investors more willing to invest in the company. This should help the outfit come up with more cash to
fund R&D.
However both told Computerworld that AMD needs to chart
its own path and get out from underneath Intel's shadow. They say that the market is moving away from PCs this may
provide AMD an opportunity, before that market is set or the ideal form factor
identified, to create a market where it can thrive.
