Up first up
From next year Mickey Mouse outfit, Walt Disney, and Apple offshoot, Pixar animation Studios, will release all their flicks using 3D technology.
Pixar movies will be released in 3-D and the traditional two-dimensional format,beginning in May 2009, with "Up," about an elderly widower who embarks on a South American adventure.
Disney, 20th Century Fox, Paramount, and Universal Pictures and Universal have agreed to help finance and equip 10,000 screens in the U.S. and Canada to accommodate 3-D movies. The conversion will cost as much as $700 million and take three years.
Apparently, 3-D can attract two to three times more moviegoers who are willing to pay as much as $3 more per ticket, analysts claim.
