At odds with Intel statements

Microsoft and Intel seem to be at odds over whether the Spectre and Meltdown patches slow down machines significantly.

Intel has developed and is rapidly issuing updates for all types of Intel-based computer systems - including personal computers and servers - that render those systems immune to the"Spectre" and "Meltdown" threats.

Intel has denied that there is a huge design problem with its chips which will mean a patch which could slow down its offerings by between five and 30 percent.
