End of September

Nvidia’s latest integrated chipset for Intel Core 2 Duo/Quad CPUs has been delayed again. Sources close to Nvidia’s partners have indicated that the chipset has been pushed back again, but as usual, Nvidia didn’t offer any valuable explanation as to why this happened. The new launch date is the end of September.

Since this is a DirectX 10 chipset, Nvidia has to have some issues with the driver and we’ve also heard that the GPU inside the chipset will end up with a Geforce 9 brand name.

This chipset has been delayed since April all the way to late September and this Intel compatible chipset supports up to 1,333MHz FSB and Intel Core 2 CPUs, but not Bloomfield socket 1,366 CPUs. It supports anything except 1,600MHz FSB CPUs that will fit in socket LGA 775.

This is the only Nvidia’s chipset family that is scheduled to be released this year that will support Intel CPUs and so far, Nvidia can still make Core 2 Duo/Quad chipsets, but not the one for the upcoming Bloomfield generation of processors.

Let’s hope that the end of September is the fixed date and that Nvidia won’t slip again.
