8800GT stays

Since it now launched the 9800 GTX, Nvidia plans to kill the 8800GTS series. After all, both cards are based on the same G92 chip, but the new and bigger 9800 GTX supports Hybrid Power, Three-way SLI and has a bigger cooler.

The performance of both cards is really close and therefore Nvidia had to decide to phase out the Geforce 8800 GTS.

Currently, 8800GTS sells for about €185, while the 9800GTX sells for €240 or more. It is very questionable to decide if the price difference is worth upgrading, but we guess more people will get a 9800GTX simply because of the bigger number.

If you are an overclocker than you better get the 9800 GTX-based card, as it will get you to 800MHZ GPU speed. If you want to replace your 8800 GTX the 9800 GTX at €250 makes for the perfect upgrade match.
