AMD has some new surprises for next year. Once it moves to 45 nanometre it will be ready for its eight core CPU.

Montreal is the codename for dual core Shanghai that we've mentioned here before. Shanghai has 6MB of L3 cache while in total Montreal has 12 MB. This is a duct taped CPU with two native quad cores stuck together.

The best part is that this is a part scheduled for 2008. The only part we got wrong is that two times Shanghai is called Montreal. AMD is certainly getting hard on using the town names. I guess then that the new Sempron will be called Sarajevo.
