With turbo 3.6GHz

Since we are only months from its launch, Intel finally decided to tell us a bit more about Lynnfield quad core Nehalem derived 45nm CPU. This is a CPU with simpler DDR3 dual channel controller, while Nehalem in Bloomfield, Core i7 variant has triple channel memory controller.

Lynnfield, a CPU that might end up with Core i5 brand name in its fastest iteration, will end up at 2.93GHz. This is the frequency of all quad cores. With the little help of Turbo boost technology the same CPU will run at 3.6GHz but this is the maximum single core frequency you should expect to see.

The CPU supports eight threads with Hyper threading and has 8MB of cache. This cheaper version of quad core Nehalem 45nm architecture will stick to below 3GHz clocks.
