DDR3 is here

AMD’s “new” Phenom II X4 945 is scheduled to launch next week, April 23rd, and it is scheduled to launch together with Phenom II X4 955 and Athlon X2 7850.

This CPU is already available for system builders and OEMs while the distribution is selling them as we speak to the etail and retail shops around you.

The Phenom II X4 945 is basically the AM3 version of Phenom II X4 940, with the exception that the new CPU supports DDR3 memory and socket AM3. The Phenom II X4 945 will also work in many AM2+ motherboards, something that will definitely make an upgrade easier.

Phenom II X4 945 works at 3.0GHz has 6MB L3 cache and 4x512KB L2 cache and has TDP of 125W. The big difference compared to Phenom II X4 940 is that 945 is not Black Edition.

The new CPU is listed, and supposedly available in a Hyrican desktop, here.
