Three percent in Q1 2009

Consumers really like Intel's Atom and the fact that it comes in rather cheap machines definitely helps its sales. The combined sales of Atom 200, single core and Atom 300 series dual core CPUs will reach three percent of total OEM sales for the consumer market. In Q2 this number will increase to four percent, reaching five percent in Q3 2009.

Intel expects that in Q4 2009 Atom will be in seven percent of all machines sold in the consumer market, and this is a huge number. Atom grows on the expense of Celeron 400 series that currently accounts for six percent of sales in Q1 2009. In Q2 2009 this last 65nm single core sales will drop to five percent, in Q3 2009 three percent and finally in Q4 2009 it will drop to one percent.

If you compare Atom and Celeron 400 65nm sales, you can clearly see that this entry level market is taking nine percent of total sales in first half of 2009 and eight percent of total sales in second half of 2009.
