Crossfire

AMD's upcoming chipset, codenamed RD890, and scheduled to appear in the second half of 2009 will bring overclocking capabilities into AMD world. It will be an improvement  over the RD790 chipset and we’ve learned that AMD wants to focus even more on Crossfire support.

Crossfire is possible as PCIe 16X for two cards, or PCIe 8X speed for four cards, and this should make AMD's new chipset, even more appealing to consumers.

The new chipset uses a new Southbridge, the SB800 that will introduce Gigabit LAN, something that has been missing from AMD Southbridge chips since the first time ATI entered this business. We’ve seen some enormous improvements in AMD chipsets lately, and now AMD can tell that it has very a good base for a good platform.
