80 percent of PC sales in Dubai are notebooks |

More than 80 percent of computer sales in Dubai and the Middle East region are notebooks. This is quite a high number, as in Europe and the U.S.A the numbers are not this high.
This clearly shows that notebooks are becoming dominant in the computer business; but at the same time you cannot really upgrade your notebook, so you are stuck with that system until you buy a new one.
Dubai, at the same time, cannot be used as a reference for this region or anything else in the world, as seeing a Ferrari or Maserati here is not a big deal and renting an apartment in central Dubai can cost between $2,000 for the smallest ones to $5,000 for something decent.
Regional distribution Manager of AMD Middle East, Africa and Pakistan, Mr. Abdallah Saqqa, said that in the Emirates market, consumers really like brands and that branded PCs are selling much better than the white box ones.
We are not sure how much of these 80 percent in this luxurious town is AMD’s piece of the pie, but we are sure that it's not even close to 50 percent of the eighty percent, simply as Intel is doing really well with its Centrino platform.
