Apple to make announcement August 7th

Press event for new iMac launch?

Apple Computer
will be hosting a press event at its Cupertino, California headquarters and, if rumors are true, it will launch its new iMac lineup. Many Apple enthusiast sites on the Web suggest that Apple has made major revisions to the iMac product line, which has not varied much since Apple launched the first Macs with Intel CPUs in them.

Reps from Apple have said that this will be a Mac-related event, but that has not stopped tongues from wagging, and postulating that Apple will launch a new iPod Nano at the event, as well. This is most likely wishful thinking from the Mac faithful, as this would break with Apple’s tradition of launching products from two different departments at a non-Mac World event during the same week.

Shipments of Mac products have been on the up swing during Apple’s third quarter; and if the announcement of the new iMac is true, Apple could have the new system in retailer hands prior to the start of the back to school shopping season, which is typically strong for all computer retailers.
