Radeon R9 295X2 gets $200 discount

by on24 November 2014

Starting at $769 at Newegg

The mighty RadeonR9 295X2 is apparently getting a substantial price cut, with prices starting at $769 at leading US e-tailer Newegg.

Newegg is now listing the HIS Radeon R9 295X2 at $769, while the VisionTek R9 295X2 goes for $779. Dual-headed Radeon R9 295X2 cards from XFX, Diamond and of course Sapphire are priced at $779.

This represents a saving of 20-22% on AMD's flagship Vesuvius XT cards, at least for US consumers. As for European consumers, they're not getting any good deals yet. Prices in the DACH region start at about €850, with some SKUs starting at €900+.

There are some caveats - Newegg clearly states that this is a limited offer, but then again that's how most price cuts start. Europeans are used to getting less value for money, so this is nothing new. If it is any consolation, the USD/EUR exchange rate has gone wild in recent weeks and the dollar is much stronger than it was for a while, so the difference is somewhat small than it was just a couple of months ago.
