LG 31MU97 is 4K for Video Pros

You might remember the HD ready and full HD fiasco a few years back and now 4K is about to replace the obsolete full HD it is set to repeat.

The standard full HD you got to know is 3840x2160 in its 16:9 form and now the 4096 x 2160 at a 19:10 or 1.9:1 aspect ratio is a new substandard.

LG 31MU97 uses this version of 4K in order to meet the Digital Cinema Initiative (DCI) standard. You can imagine that this display is meant for professionals in rendering, car manufacturing, medicine, video editing or similar jobs where the resolution matter.

The IPS display supports 10 bit colour and 99.5 percent of the Adobe RGB colour space providing users with several colouring options and models. Its Dual colour Space allows the monitor to display two different colour modes at once so that users can compare different perspectives of their work simultaneously.

Additionally, the Digital Cinema 4K Monitor comes hardware calibration-ready with LG's exclusive True Colour Pro software.

Hyoung-sei Park, head of the IT business division at LG said that this monitor's high-end features and functions make it the perfect solution for professionals who require a top-of-the-line monitor with all the technology currently available.

The LG 31MU97 should be the top offer for high end 4K video professional editing and the early listing implies that it will be available for $1399 in the USA or £999 in the UK or €1299 in most parts of EU. It comes with a Thunderbolt port for MAC users. PC users will have options of two HDMI connectors, mini and regular Display Port, four USB 3.0 and 3.5 mm audio connector. The HDMIs are 1.4 version, Display Port 1.2 and the panel comes with 5ms reaction time.

The LG 31MU97 will be available starting this week in markets including the United States, South Korea, Germany, Australia and the UK followed by the Netherlands, Spain, Poland and Japan in November.
