Intel delays Broadwell-E desktop processor

by on22 October 2014

Coming in 2016

Intel has delayed the introduction of its next generation HEDT platform. Broadwell-E is now slated to launch in the first quarter of 2016.

The chip was originally supposed to launch next year, but Intel now says that engineering samples will be available in the second half of the year, with final qualification samples shipping in November 2015. Actual products will not hit the market in 2015.

Broadwell-E should be compatible with LGA2011 v3 boards and Intel's X99 chipset. Six-core and octa-core versions are expected, with DDR4 quad-channel memory support.

Broadwell-E is based on the Broadwell-EP Xeon design, so there is a good chance that the server version won't appear in 2015 either.
