Director of AMD’s PR Chris Hook has tweeted and confirmed later in a conversation with Fudzilla that John Byrne, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Computing and Graphics Business Group, AMD, has been named turnaround exec of the year. The award comes from prestigious Golden Bridge Business and Innovation Awards.

One thing is certain, CEO Rory Read, chief sales SVP John Byrne with the help of COO Lisa Su and a few others have turned the company around. John is known as a great salesman and he will definitely appreciate being recognized by the Golden Bridge Business and Innovation Awards. It is nice to know that something you did made a mark. We hope that they can generate more noise with Kaveri-based notebooks. That is the new challenge for AMD.

It turns out that AMD’s PR and marketing machine did well in the nominations for the Golden Bridge Business and Innovation Awards that are taking place on September 8th 2014.

AMD has been nominated for Best In-House Campaign of the Year, Global Campaign of the Year, Information Technology Campaign of the Year, Information Technology Product Launch (Hardware) Campaign of the Year, Technology Campaign of the Year and Media Coverage Campaign of the Year for GPU14: The Launch of Next Generation AMD Radeon Graphics Cards.

We were part of the GPU 14 event and we can confirm that this was one of the noisiest and best executed events we had a chance to attend. Combining hundreds of journalist with most of company's executives at Hawaii for the product codenamed Hawaii was quite good idea and it got AMD extraordinary worldwide coverage.
