OUYA Kickstarter drive is complete

Written by Fudzilla staff

$8.58 in the bag

In what has to be one of the most interesting Kickstarter projects to date, the little OUYA Android gaming console has managed to attract $8.58 million.

More than 63,000 ordinary Joes backed the OUYA initiative in a single month. Additionally, several major developers and content providers including OnLive, Square Enix, Vevo, Namco Bandai and others have also jumped on board.

So, when will we get to see OUYA in action? Most backers should receive their shiny new toy by March 2013, which might sound like a long way off, but it’s really not bad for a system being designed from the ground up.

If all goes well, the general public will be able to pick one up in April.
