Google I/O 2012: 400 million devices activated so far

The Google I/O event is being watched by a million people via live stream as well as 350 viewing parties with different groups of people that Google organized, not to mention the thousands attending the actual event.

Hugo Barra, Google’s director of Android product management, took the stage at I/O 2012 and talked about momentum, mobile and more and it said that in 2011 Android had just 100 million devices activated.

Today there are 400 million devices active on Android OS/ today there is one million activated every single day, compared to 100,000 in 2011. That translates into 12 new Android devices sold every second.
