We already wrote that Nvidia's GTX 670, the second graphics card to be based on the GK104 GPU, is scheduled to launch on May 10th, but it was just a matter of time before first pictures, peformance figures and even prices started leaking.

In case you missed those earlier reports, the GTX 670 is based on the same chip seen on both the GTX 680 and GTX 690, the now already quite famous GK104. The GK104 GPU on the GTX 670 will have one SMX less or simply will feature a total of 1344 CUDA cores. Reference clocks are rumored to be set at about 915MHz for base and 990MHz for boost and it will feature the same 2GB of GDDR5 memory clocked at 6008MHz on 256-bit memory interface.

Not being burdened by Nvidia's NDA (as we tend to be), our colleagues from Tweaktown managed to actually publish a full review (although short on some game titles that we would like to see) of the GTX 670 and shed some light on what we could expect in terms of performance. Judging by the specs, the impressive results are not that surprising as GK104 has proven already that it is quite a good GPU. It ends up just a tad bit slower than the GTX 680 or somewhere around HD 7970, at least according to Tweaktown.net results.

The rumoured price is also in line with performance, as according to our sources, Nvidia plans to launch the GTX 670 with a US $399.99 price tag in order to put as much pressure as possible on AMD's HD 7970 and even HD 7950 at that price point. Of course, the pricing is not carved in stone and is something that Nvidia can change easily before the launch.
