Amazon might ship 10-inch Fire this year

Ready to take on iPad by Christmas, in the Ardennes
Amazon might be able to ship the 10-inch version of Kindle Fire by the end of the year, just in time for the holiday season.

According to Digitimes, Foxconn is preparing to ramp up production by the holiday, but it is still unclear when the tablet will eventually go on sale. The rumour mill indicated Amazon would launch the 10-incher in early 2012, but it appears to be shifting the timetable by a few weeks.

The 10-incher should be the real deal, with a quad core Tegra 3 or TI OMAP processor and a few more high-end features. Of course, it won’t sport the $199 price tag of the lesser 7-inch model, but it could still be a pretty good deal.
