Must have been raining

Well, either it's been seriously raining in Great Britain or it was just a simple matter of entertainment cravings as the UK games industry has racked up a second best year in video game sales.

Software sales ended up at £1.621 billion where the Wii games proudly sit ahead of the pack. Xbox 360 racked up £459 million, 4 percent more than in 2008. Thanks to a strong game line-up, the PS3 shifted 11.9 million games, 14 percent better than last year. The Wii remains the most sold console in the UK, but the PS3 has also seen sales grow by 2 percent.

This means that 74.6 million games have been sold as well as 6.7 million consoles, quite an admirable task considering the economic climate. 2008 remains the most lucrative year for the UK industry when it made £4.034 billion with software sales totaling at £1.905 billion.
