It seems that the PlayStation 3 fan boys are going to be disappointed again when they hear that Electronic Arts and studio BioWare have confirmed today that Mass Effect 2 is slated to arrive on January 26th in North America and January 29th in Europe for the Xbox 360 and PC only.

While rumors have continued that BioWare would be also releasing a version of the PlayStation 3 platform, this again appears to be bunk, and the Xbox 360 will have the console exclusive for the title that sold over 1.6 million units in the first six weeks of release of the first installment in the franchise.

When Mass Effect 2 arrives, players can expect a much better game according to BioWare, primarily due to the influence of player feedback. In addition, players can expect another chapter of Mass Effect to arrive to complete the planned trilogy.

Those in North America that elect to pre-order Mass Effect 2 prior to release will get a special bonus download content using download codes. From what we understand, one of the pre-order incentives is access to the “special-ops armor and weaponry,” which is a very good bonus to pre-order.
