In today’s land of Twitter, an off-the-cuff comment could lead to someone at software developer Raven Software having to write one big check, if Wolfenstein happens to beat Madden NFL 10 in sales for August.

The story goes something like this. Manveer Heir, who is a software designer for Raven, tweeted the following: “Here is the deal folks: if Wolfenstein outsells Madden 10 in August, I will personally pay for your copy (keep your receipt) – SPREAD THE WORD.” At first it didn’t seem real, but now Manveer has made some additional clarifications on the offer.

The offer will be available on an international level and he will use the official NPD numbers to make a determination as to whether he needs to write that check or not. Of course, you will need to follow him on Twitter to collect.

We think that even an FPS with the name of Wolfenstein facing off against Madden in the month of August is unlikely to surpass Madden in sales. It is just a tough time to release any title. No matter, we have to give Heir credit, though, because his Tweet is going to get a lot press; however, we think it is unlikely that the sales number will force him to have to write a check.
