Xbox 360 users will have to pay $7 for Crash Course

New content for Left 4 Dead is on the way, finally. The news coming from the Valve camp is that a new Crash Course update is coming soon and will be released for free to PC owners, but Xbox 360 owners will have to pay $7, or 560 Microsoft Points for it.

The news that the update would not be free for both platforms has already gotten tongues wagging about Valve breaking their tradition of free additional content for Xbox 360 players, which this has been staple of what the company has been about for years on the PC side. The controversy has again sparked debate and discussion about Microsoft’s unwritten policy of not wanting to provide additional updates for content for free. Valve does not seem to be the only publisher who has suggested that Microsoft has forced them into a position where they must charge for content.

The Crash Course update is a cooperative survival map with an additional versus mode that should prove to be interesting for Left 4 Dead players. We do suspect that the fact that PC owners will be getting the content for free, while Xbox 360 player will have to pay for it, is likely something that is not going away quickly. Look for talk about this to continue for some time.
