Talks continue, but a lot of hats are in the ring

According to news that we have confirmed with our sources, Bungie has yet to select a publisher for the new IP it has in development; and the assumption that the publisher of this new IP would be Microsoft is not a given.

From what we hear, Bethesda might be one of the publishers that are most interested in reaching a publishing deal with Bungie. While no one other than Bethesda has publically said that they are interested in the new Bungie IP, it is thought that the EA Partners program, as well as Activision and Ubisoft, are all interested in getting their hands on the latest from Bungie.

From the whispers that we hear, a deal might be close and right now the odds as to the favorite might, in fact, be Bethesda who just wrapped up a deal for id Software, which could put the company in the best position to acquire the rights to publish the latest IP from Bungie. Bethesda has said publicly that they are one of the only publishers that is in a position to be able to afford Bungie’s new IP.

From what we are hearing, an announcement is likely soon, but all of the pitches have not been made yet; and from what we also hear, Microsoft has not yet stepped up to the plate. Should Microsoft step into the mix and not want to let Bungie’s exclusive IP get away, the next game from Bungie could be one of the most lucrative publishing deals that has ever been given to a new title, according to our sources.
