Price cut on the Wii continues to be likely

With the continued growth in both the installed user base and third party software support for the Nintendo Wii, Nintendo would like to boost hardware sales to offset some of the disappointment that the company has been suffering with its own software sales.

According to industry analysts it is likely that Nintendo will slash the price on the Wii to help it achieve its sales numbers. According to our sources, Nintendo might be in the best position to slash the price of their console, as it is being whispered that they have more room than either Microsoft or Sony to drive down the price of their consoles.

Nintendo could take a couple of different routes in driving the price of the console down, and a promotional bundle deal for the Wii for the holidays does seem likely and it will be paired with a slight price cut, according to our sources. Nintendo is also expecting big sales for the Motion Plus add-on for their controller, as it has received a good number of supporting titles that could help it to contribute to raising the bottom line at the big “N” over the holiday selling season.

Some analysts continue to worry about Nintendo’s past struggles to produce enough product to meet the market demands, but Nintendo is said to be anticipating that it will fill all orders this holiday season. Unlike seasons past, it would appear that if you want a Wii this holiday season, you will be able to get one and it will be at an attractive price.
