Part of placing Mythic under BioWare

The restructuring at Electronic Arts continues and the latest shocking news is that Mythic has been placed under BioWare, which will be heading up the company’s new RPG/MMO division. Also in a surprise move, this new division will be led by Ray Muzka from BioWare who will not be responsible for both companies.

Employees were shocked to learn of the move in the restructuring by EA, but also the news that Mark Jacobs from Mythic would be departing and co-founder Greg Zeschuk would be stepping in the role of handling day-to-day operations and reporting to Muzka. Jacobs was reported to have been on sabbatical for about the last month; but his sudden departure is reportedly not voluntary and this was a shock to staffers.

The best news might be that at least for right now, no changes are planned and no one is being laid off at this time. Jacobs is the only one that seems to be the odd man out. Early reports suggest that Mythic employees are excited to work with the BioWare folks, but the circumstances surrounding Jacobs’ departure seem to make the situation a bit difficult for some, according to sources.

Muzka has made an address to employees and has outlined at least some of where this is all planning to go in the future and we expect to hear more about this soon.
