AM2+

First Deneb CPUs, AMD's debut to 45nm, will naturally be quad-cores and they will fit in AM2+ motherboards. They will have the maximal possible TDP of 125W, and we are most likely talking about 2.8GHz or faster models.

These CPUs are expected after November, possibly even December, and we can also confirm that AMD doesn’t plan to price these CPUs up to the sky and that they will most likely compete with the slowest Core i7, Nehalem generation Bloomfield CPUs in the sub-$300 range.

The pricing hasn't been fixed at this time, but it doesn’t look that even 3GHz Deneb has much chance against 2.93GHz Core i7 or faster. The 2.8GHz and 3.0GHz should be faster than 2.66GHz clocked Core i7 920.

The first Deneb supports only DDR2 memory, even we know that they have a combo memory controller that can support both DDR2 and DDR3. It looks that the boards supporting DDR3 and AM3 will come later, most likely in Q1 2009.

There plans are all based on the best case scenario execution and not being late to meet its schedules strategy, but as you can imagine AMD hasn't been terrific in meeting its plans for quite some time. There is always hope.
