Katana is back, and it's sharper this time

Scythe announced Katana 2 CPU cooler, 2nd generation of what was called value-for-money CPU cooler.

New generation comes with new unique features. Katana 2 has three heatpipes, and unique sloping shaped heatsink fins that should provide better performance than the previous model. For the second generation default fan is the Schythe orginal "Kaze Jyu 100mm Fan" and it should give a good cooling performance and maintain the high level of silence. It also uses what Schythe calls 4 way mounting which allows you to configure the optimized airflow direction inside your chassis without any restrictions.

New Katana 2 supports, for Intel's 478, T / (LGA)775 socket, and for AMD 754, 939, 940 and socket AM2, and all speeds are supported for both Intel and AMD socket's. Katana 2 dimensions are 105 x 82 x 149mm. Fan which we mentioned works at 1500rpm's and produces 22dBA, at which he provides about 42.69CFM of airflow. This all weights 535g.

Suggested price is $32 for USA, and €27.95 for us in Europe. You can find more information on Schythe's product webpage here.
